The Frugal Instant Pot Cookbook
A few short weeks ago I published a cookbook that’s become one of my most popular ones yet. It’s called the Frugal Instant Pot Cookbook and something I’ve been working on for quite some time. I’ve used my instant pot for the past two years. When it first arrived, I made room for it in my kitchen cabinet. That space has since been reclaimed because I use this electric appliance on an almost daily basis. It stays out on my kitchen counter ready to cook steel-cut oats for breakfast, or a quick soup or stew for dinner. I also like it quite a bit for cooking beans and potatoes.
Since it’s publication, I’ve gotten quite a few questions about The Frugal Instant Pot Cookbook. The main ones are about how frugal the recipes are (very), and what recipes are included. I thought I’d share a few of the frugal tips I have included with each recipe and a full table of contents and recipe list. I hope you find it helpful in making your decision to pick up this Kindle Cookbook.
A quick note about kindle books. Did you know that you don’t need a Kindle to read these types of eBooks? You can use your phone, a tablet, or your computer with the free Kindle App. For more information, take a look at this helpful page on Amazon with specific advice for different devices.
One of my favorite parts about writing up the recipes was the “To Make This More Frugal” section. Each recipe ends with a few simple times to make the already frugal dish for even less.
Here’s an example from the Instant Pot Steel Cut Oats recipe:
Make This Even More Frugal:
I buy my steel cut oats at a local Aldi grocery store. It’s the best price I’ve found and we like the texture and flavor of this brand best. Shop around and find the best price for your area. Don’t forget to look at bulk options, or consider ordering your steel cut oats online. If you have Amazon Prime, you can find great deals and have the oats shipped free to your home.
While the oats taste best if make them with milk as stated in the recipe, you can replace some or even all of the milk with water. I find that when I replace half the milk with water, no one in my family notices the difference. This comes in handy when you’re running low on milk. Saving a cup or two of milk may not seem like much of a saving, but over time, it will add up, particularly if you find yourself making this several times per week as I do.
Here’s another example, this one from a recipe for ham and bean soup.
How To Make This More Frugal
Your biggest savings with this recipe will come from the ham. You can put as little or as much in it as you like. Look for good deals on ham at the grocery store. You can often find thick slices of ham, and end pieces on sale. Of course stocking up during the big holidays also helps. Set aside some bits and pieces, or use leftovers like I do and you’ll have enough ham to make a pot of soup like this several times a month.
