Creamy Fruit Dip

  • 4 ounces cream cheese (half of an 8 oz block) or 1/2 cup Yogurt Cheese
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • Assorted fruit, cut into pieces

Soften up the cream cheese or yogurt cheese in a summer time kitchen on the counter, or in the microwave for a few seconds. Measure the milk into the cream cheese. I use 1/4 cup (4 tablespoons) because I like it a little on the thinner side. Use 3 tablespoons if you like your dip thicker. Add the vanilla and powdered sugar. Beat everything together until it is smooth. Electric beaters do this well, but a whisk works pretty well too. Now the dip is done.

Serve it in a bowl surrounded by seasonal fruit. Apples should be cut from the core into wedges, oranges should be peeled and sectioned, grapes and strawberries should be well washed. Bananas can be cut into chunks, spears or slices. Canned pineapple rings are pretty good for dipping too. If you are being fancy, you can arrange everything artistically, but I seldom do.

You eat this by grabbing a piece of fruit and dipping it into the cream cheese sauce. Then you eat it, and smile decadently. Children and adults love this stuff, double the recipe if desired, and keep any leftovers in the fridge.
