Ok, I am going to be very honest to start with, I almost passed this book when I saw hillbilly because I thought I would have some crazy ingredients or method of preparation like use of duck tape, but in desperation gave it a shot. Surprisingly, this is the the best bread book I have ever seen! It has all the simple recipes that I have been looking for and a few extra! I have purchased at least 12 bread books from Amazon that I would have thought to have basic bread recipes using basic ingredients, but no, most of them didn't a have white bread recipe at all even though they claimed to be a beginner bread making book. The only thing I wish this book would have are the weights of the ingredients instead of cups. If you are looking for a great basic bread recipe, than stop wasting your time and money, this is the only book you will need! Thanks hillbilly people for KISS keeping it simple silly!

...I really enjoy ALL of Susanne's books and use them regularly. Susanne runs ""The Hillbilly Housewife" website, which is the best of what I call my Frugal Friends network. Susanne shares recipes, tips, ideas and encouragement for living a more sane and inexpensive lifestyle. Her recipes are always tried and true, in other words, they work. A word may be misspelled here and there, but they are obvious typos and wouldn't cause a problem for most people. Susanne shares her books for ridiculously low costs. This particular book is free on Amazon at the moment. I am a trained chef and I can make almost anything, so why do I buy Susanne's books? Because Susanne knows shortcuts and easier versions of recipes that I do not. I know a lovely French version of Raisin Bread that is too complicated to make often. Susanne's recipe for Cinnamon Bread with added raisins is a whole lot easier. Her Chocolate Bread recipe is a similar case. The recipe I know is a pain, her recipe is easy. Her recipes are also explained step by step in a way that makes them simple for a beginning baker. She has recipes in this book that I haven't seen or thought of like her recipe for Pineapple Zucchini Bread or her Rosemary Poppy Seed Bread (which we will be eating this Shabbos) I am also excited to try her Potato Bread during Passover. 35 Homemade bread Recipes isn't just a bargain, it's a treasure!

This book is a handy resource for bread-bakers, especially those that are home cooks. It offers a variety of recipes for different breads, from savory to sweet. The recipes themselves aren't overly complicated and don't require any special equipment or hard to find ingredients. The only faults that can be found in this book are the typos; sometimes a word is left out or misused. I am an experienced editor, so these things likely leap out to me more than the average reader. I do like that this is written by a normal, next door neighbor kind of gal. It makes it easier to connect with the author and makes her more relatable, which results in a sense of trust in her and the recipes she shares.

I've cooked and written a cookbook, The Fiscal Cliff Cookbook - Eat Reasonably Well During The Apocalypse - With Social Commentary Cliff Notes, but I have never made my own bread, so 35 Homemade Bread Recipes appealed to me as soon as I saw it.

The layout of the book and recipes is easy to follow. I am surprised that I did not realize cottage cheese could be an ingredient in many bread recipes. The most appealing 3 to me in this book is 1)One Hour Homemade Bread 2)Onion and Dill Bread 3)Homemade Garlic Dill Bread.
